Day 2: Delight In Him

“Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭37:4-5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬.

It is no secret that God does know the desires of our heart and this is as a result of Him placing those desires in our hearts in the first place. The word delight is defined as “taking great pleasure in.” Keeping this definition in mind, this verse is literally telling us to take great pleasure in the Lord. This implies that there should be nothing else in this world that brings more pleasure than the Lord because the minute that happens, our focus shifts from living and serving Him, to living and serving that thing.

We need to learn to find contentment in the Lord, where we worry not of the things of the world because we know that we have all that we need in Christ alone. Once our heartbeat becomes one with His, you find that you are able to achieve far more than what you ever anticipated. Trusting Him becomes easier because over time you have had first hand experience of just what He can do. But do not be deceived, the situations you face will require more of you than before as that is the only to grow. One thing we can rest assured in is the fact that no matter what the circumstance, He will see us through it, so long as we continuously trust in Him and delight in Him. Let us put to rest the tendencies of trusting in our own capabilities and strength, let us put to rest all earthly pleasures and let us be a Jesus nation, one that trusts, delights and find contentment in the Lord, Jesus Christ.

Prayer:

Father, if ever I found pleasure in something else other than you, reveal it to me that I may repent of it. You and You alone are the true delight of my heart and let nothing come before You this day and forever more. Amen
