Day 1: Trust Him

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬.

With the start of a new year comes the prospects of new adventures, new beginnings, new goals and objectives, the list is endless, but how often do we actually seek to consult God about all these things? More often than not we fail to accomplish our “new years resolutions” simply because we opt to lean on our own flawed understanding of the world and our lives. This, more often than not, stems from the fact that we do not trust God the way we ought to.

Trusting Him with all our hearts means that no matter how negative the situation may seem, we still trust Him to direct our path to peace and righteousness. When we choose to lean on our own understanding we fail to acknowledge His presence in our lives and that means that we will not heed to His leading. By acknowledging Him, we acknowledge our weaknesses and our inability to keep to what we say, so what does this mean? We need to look to God, dive deep into His word as “it is a lamp to our feet, that brings light to our paths” (Psalm 119:105). This shows us that the only place we find our direction is right in His word, not in ourselves, not in our Pastors, Prophets, Shepherds, Apostles, you name it. Trust in God and God alone, acknowledge Him at all times and allow Him to guide your every step.

Father as I look ahead in 2017, let all that I desire to accomplish come from and be of You that Your Kingdom may be extended as Your glory is revealed through my life. Help me to trust You with all that I am as I surrender and lay all things before Your throne of grace. Amen
