“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine long-suffering in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water” 1 Peter 3:18-20 NKJV.
Christ suffered once for us, so that we no longer have to suffer again, yet through our disobedience we spiritually imprison and shackle ourselves to chains of sin and guilt. But His suffering was for the purpose that we may be freed from our self imprisonment and be close to God so that our souls can be saved. Everything has its purpose and appointed time, and whether we like it or not, it will happen where the world will be brought to an end. Yet His “Divine patience” allows us the privilege to be saved from inevitable destruction. Our disobedience will land us in trouble, but His patience and love brings to us salvation and peace. It is on us to make the decision, life or not.
Father, thank You for Christ and His sacrifice. Thank You for being patient with me throughout my disobedience to You, correct me and show me the way that I may not be disobedient to Your ways ever again. Amen
