Day 37: Inseparable Love

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” Romans 8:35-39 NKJV.

The world has taught us that only good comes with following God because of His love and that anything negative implies that we did something wrong and He does not love us the same. This is mainly perpetuated by these preachers who have a large following base, who often sell this image that with Christ, no harm or nothing bad can happen to you. As a Christian, our blueprint of life is seen in the life of Christ and His teachings. He suffered greatly for us and He even goes and says that we will be hated and persecuted because of His name. His disciples suffered through the same things of which few of them were kept in prisons, made to suffer and killed in unimaginable ways. Does this then mean that we are that naive to think that God does not love us if we go through tough times? Clearly we have greater obstacles to overcome than we pictured. In the face of trouble we have every right to be joyful, because had it not been for the presence of Christ in your life, none of that would happen. We need not worry because we are already conquerors of those circumstances. Being killed for His sake simply means that you are freed from this wretched place and you are now in a place of perpetual joy and perfection. God’s love is magnified in those situations because if we look at the life of Christ, God’s love is shown by His shameful death on the cross. So instead of believing these superficial teachings that only breed more church goers instead of world changers, we ought to go out into the world, carried by His unfailing love to face and spread His love to all corners of the world. Do not be a lukewarm Christian or a dead Christian who does not wholeheartedly commit your ways and life to Him. Do not worry, His love will never leave you.

Father, Your love is humbling. I commit myself to Your service this day and forevermore not because of my will but because Your love compels me to do so. Help me to rejoice and always remember that Your love is with me in all situations. Amen
