“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desires comes, it is a tree of life” Proverbs 13:12 NKJV.
More often than not, we find ourselves in situations where we are hoping for something, waiting for days on end. That feeling of waiting in hope, slowly eats away at you, slowly giving you a negative outlook on life and your situation. Waiting for something, without actually doing something about it, can and will eventually kill the hope that you have. Christ gave us a living hope, a confident one that should drive us into action. There is no point in hoping to get full whereas you do not even lift a finger to eat the food put in front of you. The longer you wait (hope deferred), the hunger you feel will just continue to hurt you. Same applies with our relationship with Christ. Its noble to want to have a closer relationship with Him, but if you do not open and read your bible daily on top of praying daily, that longing hope of wanting to grow closer to Christ will continuously eat away at you.
Father, let me never find myself in a situation where I am doing nothing about the desires which You have placed in my heart, but let me always strive to fulfill them with hope knowing that nothing but goodness awaits me. Amen
