Day 19: Foolish Wisdom

“He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife, But he who trusts in the LORD will be prospered. He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, But whoever walks wisely will be delivered. He who gives to the poor will not lack, But he who hides his eyes will have many curses” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭28:25-27‬ ‭NKJV‬‬.

Pride is the core reason why many have crumbled and found themselves in the dumps. It is our pride which leads us to believe that we know all things, that alone, we can still do all things, amongst many other things. Pride is the prelude to strife. It is inevitable that, where there is pride, trouble is brewing in the midst and soon it will cause so much damage to many. Pride leads us to trust in the foolishness of our hearts. It leads us to believe that we are better than others, and any who is not at the same level as you, cannot be treated with the dignity and respect they deserve as fellow human beings. Pride. The one thing that operates under the radar, yet it is the one thing that can lead to the most trouble.

Pride cannot dwell in the same place as God because He requires humility from us. Where there is pride, trust that He will demolish that pride, tearing it out from your life by its roots. It’s a painful process but very necessary. But one must position themselves where God can actually weed out all the pride in your life. Trusting in God will only lead to your benefit and success in what He has placed in your hearts. Where pride is all about me, myself and I, God has you focusing on other things other than yourself. With God, helping others, or giving to the poor and less fortunate is not much of a big deal because you know that what you give, was given unto you as well by God. Pride leads us to think that we worked hard to earn what we have, but all the time it was God who gave you that drive and zeal to work hard and it is by His grace and hand that you are able to receive. Thinking anything else is complete foolishness. Only fools trust in the destructive work of their hands, but those who trust in the Lord find peace and contentment.

Father, I thank you that you gave me so that I could give to others. That You bless me that I may be a blessing unto others. Free me from my foolishness and let me never turn a blind eye from the poor. Amen
