Day 18: Trust In The Name

“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the LORD our God. They have bowed down and fallen; But we have risen and stand upright” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭20:7-8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬.

The safety found in riding chariots and horses is limited. When something happens to those items, you are left helpless with nothing to trust in unfortunately. Imagine yourself going into battle, and the people you are fighting with come towards you in chariots and horses because that is where their trust is. It seems crazy to think that one would actually do that, but truth of the matter is, that is the life of a Christian. We go into battle with people who have their trust in other worldly things instead of Christ. This makes our fight easy because all we need to do is target that thing, knocking them off their “chariot and horse” where they lie helpless. The are unable to get back up because that which they put their trust on has been defeated.

Though we may not realise it, our weakness lies in what we have the core of our trust in. Breaking that, will break the individual, this is why we have the choice to either trust in the mortal or immortal. Remember the name of the Lord at all times. That is the name that will give you strength, it is the name that will give you the will power to persevere and endure, it is the name that will carry you through. The world of a Christian revolves around standing up whenever you get knocked down because you remember and trust in His Name. The opposite leads only to life of the fallen, though it may not happen everyday, it will always catch up with you because what is mortal will parish.

Lord, let me never put my trust in nothing other than You. It is in You that I have the strength day after day. Thank you for Your faithful and unconditional grace. Amen
