“But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you” Isaiah 43:1-2 NKJV.
One thing we need to remember, in fact we ought to proclaim this to the whole world with confidence, the fact that I belong to Jesus Christ. It is not only true, but it is a fact that He formed, created and called us all individually by name into His church. That makes you and I His, whether we like it or not. For some this may be a life that they grew up knowing well into adolescences and adulthood. For others it may be a situation where they never knew or wanted this life in the beginning. But He is God, He created and formed you and has the power to call you out of the darkness to live and serve Him wholeheartedly.
This life we have been called to, will often lead to coming across paths where we must cross “rivers” or “waters” moving rapidly. To our knowledge it is impossible to cross this as we know that the force of the waters will easily take us. But when God says that He will be with you, He means that He will indeed be with you and no harm will fall upon you. With God, the impossible quickly becomes possible. It is at those moments when we feel most weak and incapable where He then says “I will be with you” and it is up to us to trust in Him. Where things seem too easy, it is almost impossible to see His hand because we can do it. Whereas in impossible situation, when we overcome, it is easier to identify His hand throughout the whole process because we know full well that it was indeed impossible for us to do alone. I always tell people that no testimony comes easy, but the joy in being able to stand victorious far surpasses the pain felt during the struggle.
Lord, help me to trust in You and to walk with You through the toughest of obstacles. Let me bring you glory always in what You do through me and never let me shy away from blessings others with Your testimony. Amen
