Day 16: Trust In His Mercy

“But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭13:5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

We may often find ourselves in positions where we gave in to temptation and sinned, which often leads to the backsliding of a lot of Christians. This backsliding can be seen as a failure to recognise His unfailing love and mercy. Being consumed by guilt, where the accusations of the devil belittles us and leads us to the thought that we are undeserving of His love and grace. To a certain extent there is truth in this, in that our actions make us deserving of punishment, but because He loved us so much, Christ died for our sins that we may find mercy and salvation.

It is indeed important for us to trust in His mercy and unfailing love, holding onto His word, knowing that despite our shortcomings, He still extends His mercy to us. But do not be deceived, He is not the one to be used and abused, only a truly repentant heart receives His mercy and is able to rejoice for the salvation we find in Him. It is important that we also trust His love and mercy are sufficient. Knowing that they are sufficient, even when we fall, we are able to get back up stronger, with more zeal and passion to fight on as we are reminded of the significance of His death on the cross. His salvation alone, is reason enough to get our hearts jumping for joy.
Prayer:

Lord, help me to find contentment and peace in the joy of Your salvation. Help me to block out anything that seeks to pull me away from You, that in You always, my trust and life may forever be. Amen
