Day 14: Death, Where Is Your Sting?

“So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?”” ‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭15:54-55‬ ‭NKJV‬‬.

Has humans, we have an inherent corruptible and mortal nature, where is why we find it much easy to indulge in corruptible actions rather than righteous deeds. This means that the sting of death and the victory of hades torments our souls. This torment is manifested through different forms which more often than not leads us to do things to help us numb that feeling. In death, there is no love and the victory of hades brings about no peace or joy. This is why you find that in most cases, people indulge in corruptible, sinful things so that they can experience peace, joy and/or love. Inasmuch as we have an inherent sinful nature, we have a deep and mighty desire to be loved, to experience peace and to be forever full of joy. This is why Jesus came, to help us fulfill that God given desire.

Scripture says we need to put on the incorruptible and immortality. This suggests that there is something that is required from us. When this is done, according to God’s standard, we have everlasting life and most importantly we cannot and should not be corruptible. By putting on this new self, which is of Christ, the power and torment death had over us is defeated and put far away from us, meaning that we should not have to deal with temptations and sin. The reality of the situation is that we still do face these in a daily basis so long as we are of flesh. This is why this NEEDS to be an EVERYDAY thing for us. Without Christ, we will forever be corruptible and the sting of death will always be felt. Repent daily for the Kingdom of God is at hand.

Father, I bow before You, I lay my heart before You, I surrender my life to You so that Your life giving spirit may fill and use me. Thank you for the victory I experience everyday. Amen
