Day 8: Where’s Your Trust?

“He who trusts in his riches will fall, But the righteous will flourish like foliage” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭11:28‬ ‭NKJV‬‬.

There is no good that comes with trusting riches or things. None whatsoever. This is simply because of the perishability of those items. By trusting in these things, our fall will come at their end and more often than not, the fall is a devastating one. The way The Message bible puts it is quite straightforward in the sense of there is no growth when trusting in things. There is absolutely no good, but does this mean that as a Christian we are not destined for riches, or that having riches is a bad thing? Not at all.

Having a life shaped by God, a righteous life, leads to all things beneficial. Shifting your trust from things to God, will lead to growth in all areas of our lives. This means that whether we have plenty or little, it means nothing to us because we know that all those things have their end. But not focusing on possessions, we are able to live joyful and fulfilling lives, where we are able to grow, even in our trust to Him because we know that all things are of and from Him. He wants nothing but for us to live fulfilling lives but this starts with us putting our complete trust in Him. Trusting in things is a life wasted indeed because focus is on self and those things. When you have your life shaped by God, all worries are away from you to the point where you are able to care for those less fortunate, for the extension and glorification of His Kingdom.
Prayer:

Father, let me not put my trust in things but help me to keep my eyes on You that You may give me purpose. Shape my life Oh! Lord that I may live to serve You. Amen
